We encourage clients to view items of furniture immediately they come into stock and before any conservation or restoration has taken place. This allows you to see the true condition of the items, and to play a primary role in determining the extent of conservation or restoration needed. We do not believe in presenting over-restored goods whose faults are disguised by a high polish and an equally high price. By uniting buyers and furniture at the earliest opportunity our clients are not only better informed, but also enjoy a greater satisfaction and confidence in their collection.
The antique pewter that we sell is of museum quality. Surface condition is very important, and each piece will have either a light polished surface, as it was when in original use, or will have a greyish oxidised surface, if it has not been cleaned for several years. Many pieces bear a maker’s mark and these will have been researched and identified, to provide an accurate date and provenance. With unmarked pieces provenance and period will have been ascribed from style and other details
